Model-A

Color Photography from the 1930’s and 40’s

This is pretty much completely off topic, but I figured you guys would appreciate it. Photographers working for the United States Farm Security Administration (FSA) and later the Office of War Information (OWI) created the images between 1939 and 1944. The Library of Congress recently posted them on Flickr and they are simply incredible.

Check it out.

The Parts Store

This one has been sent to me via email no less than 10 times… So, many of you guys have probably seen it as well. In any case, I wanted to post it simply because it’s such a dreamy picture – A parts store with real, honest-to-goodness, PARTS! Can you imagine?

New To Him

Whether it be a turn-key runner or a project, there is just something so damned exciting about getting a new car. In this day and age of the internet, most of us “see” our new cars for the first time via a picture. These first sightings… these pictures… get burned into your brain and become part of the car’s identity over the long haul. I cherish these images.

Anyway, AstroZombie recently got himself a new coupe and posted the above image of his find. It made me think, “I wonder if anyone else out there loves their first ‘sight’ as much as Zombie and I do.” If ya do, post them up!

Henry Ford’s Model-A By Oscar Ford

A buddy of mine sent this to me the other day… It’s a short video montage of Henry’s Model-A Ford set to a song by Bluegrass man Oscar Ford. Appropriately enough, the song was recorded in 1929 with Riley Puckett. I know, this isn’t entirely on topic, but I figured some of you model-a freaks would enjoy it.

Vintage Wreckers

The thing about early Fords is that they are just so damned utilitarian. They were built with a purpose and that functionality gives them their beauty. Make one even more specialized and they just get all the more special… As an example, enjoy this small gallery (after the break) of vintage wreckers.
