The thing about early Fords is that they are just so damned utilitarian. They were built with a purpose and that functionality gives them their beauty. Make one even more speci... To read the rest of this blog entry from The Ford Barn, click here.

Ryan,

I love trucks, especially older ones. Nice group of pictures.

Here is one from the area. I like the tie-in of old and new on this one, it's from Ezold's Garage in MA.

If only these vintage wreckers could tell a story. I've attached some photos of my 1927 TT with a Weaver hand crank wrecker - this one is an unrestored survivor.
Thanks,

So here is a picture of the Wrecker taken in 2008 at a "Ghost Town" near Phoenix. I took a bunch of pictures of it and kept thinking how if I had the time and the money, I would love to take it home with me (although not for sale). They also had a number of other hulks of trucks along side it.

The bodywork, paint, lettering, gold leaf, pin striping, louvers all done by the owner the late Mickey Fearon of Colonial Auto Body of Tyngsborough, Mass. I don't think there was anything that he couldn't do. This was all before computers and cut out vinyl letters removed the need for artistry. He has a nephew who has picked up the gauntlet.

I see it is a Holmes. Did you know that Ernest Holmes built the very first in the world wrecker? Holmes Wreckers were built in Chattanooga TN and Miller Ind still builds Holmes Wreckers today. Miller Ind is the worlds largest wrecker Manf with two plants in TN, one in PA, one in England, and one in France. There is also a very good Towing Museun in Chattanooga and worth a visit when passing through Chattanooga.
