Re: handbrake cable installation, how?

I've had the little thin steel thingies fall off. I'm trying wee little "trailer hitch pin clips" to see if they'll stay on. Bummer if the cable comes disconnected from the actuating lever in there...

Re: 2025 4th of July Island Style

I noticed it took Pete Hoovie all of 8 minutes to enlarge Gary's collage. What's taking him so long?

Re: Making new paint look old??

I've been away from the Barn for a bit and it was wonderful to be back. Why can't we put hearts and thumbs up icons on pictures? Garry's grandkids deserve a little bit of acknowledgement!

Re: Oddity Question

My uncle worked for NJ Bell. They had orange decals with black lettering made up that read "CURB SIDE SAFE SIDE." They were installed on the window molding on the driver's side door of all the...

Re: Brake issue making me nuts!

What kind of fluid are you using? I use silicone fluid and many say that it's difficult to get a good firm pedal when bleeding. Also, what is the ratio of the center of the pedal pivot shaft to the...

Re: Q: 34 Ford Coupe RHD rear window regulator

Um, could you just flip the piece over? You might have to re-countersink some screw holes? (I really don't know about this. From the photos it just seems logical.)

Re: F1 steering box adjustment

I did the set up a few years ago. Something like the worm bearing preload, I'm positive I got that right. The sector engagement I'm pretty sure was a judgement call and I figure I just judged on the...

Re: F1 steering box adjustment

Took care of it. I got under, pulled off the plugged nut, saw the adjusting screw. Srewed it in as far as it would go without cranking on it, checked the locking washer, tightened it a bit more....

Re: Thoughts on this Hobby

A friend just bought a 2000 Lincoln? Here in New Jersey you can put "QQ" (historic) plates on anything 25 years old or older. He put them on his newest car.

F1 steering box adjustment

I redid my F1 steering box a few years ago and I've recently gotten the vehicle out on the road. The steering is sloppy. What do I have to do to tighten it up? I got the "cover" nut off, the multi...

Re: Charlie Schwendler & Stromberg 97

Thanks! I thought it was the Delco distributor that preceded the "cluster" points. I have one of THOSE (the Delco one) that I put together ages ago with a Dyna Flyte (sp?) dual point plate. I look at...

Re: Charlie Schwendler & Stromberg 97

Could you elaborate on"SBC flattop" distributor? Is that the '55-'56 distributor before the "cluster" points came to be? Thanks.

Re: Points Gap on chevy distributor

That Chevy distributor has the possibility to set the dwell with the engine running. That is if you have a dwell meter. Set the dwell and THEN set the timing
I have a couple of those distributors...

Freddie Boom Boom Cannon had a hot record, "Last night I took a walk in the park, a swinging place called Palisades Park." I seem to recall that the park owners reminded the NY DJ's to play it often...

Re: Switch to silicon brake fluid?

One thing to consider is the master cylinder gasket. My '63 Chevy has a flat, thick rubber gasket. There's a small hole in it that allows air to go into the chamber each time the brakes are applied...

Re: Juice brakes on a Duece.

This is what's recommended in the Bishop-Tardel book using the early Ford master cylinder. They even give you a drawing of the bracket for the master cylinder. I did the set up for my brother's '32...

Re: Did a FH V8 sit level in the frame, fore and aft?

My experience led me to believe that WITH A TORQUE TUBE, the centerline through the crank shaft, transmission and torque tube should one continuous axis at about 3º. This will reduce wear on the U...

Re: Making new paint look old??

I've been thinking on the subject and what I really want is for the paint to look old. What ages paint? The sun! Think I'm gonna buy me a high power UV light from those people who sell all that stuff...
