Re: Pilot Bearing options
I tend to lean towards the bearing myself based on the transmission side of things. As with Mac I agree the pilot end of the input shaft is a key part of good transmission operation as this end...

Fred, thanks for the lead, I've got a pair on the way from Berts. Very fair people to deal with on the phone thus far.
Thank you to all for your responses, hopefully saved me some effort.

Re: '28/'29 Repro Cowl Patch Panels?
Thanks for all the info. I'll give Bert's a call tomorrow and check on some parts. I looked at their site, quite a bunch of stuff, I hadn't heard of them before.

I need to replace the lower sections of my cowl panels. Are the repro patches formed with the correct panel curves or should I just start forming my own from scratch? I've heard some say the complete...

Re: 1932 transmission shifter cover
It's very difficult to put a '32 slant tower top on a large synchro trans. I have a good '32 top with rails and forks I'd sell for $25.00 plus shipping if you really need (want) one.

Re: Differance 41 Ford 1/2 ton vs 3/4-1 ton
Everything you listed is different except the cab which has a seat tank instead of a seat riser. The axles are larger on both with the 1 ton using larger brakes. Find a copy of James K Wagner's book...

Re: Rod Bearings-NOS Copper/Lead vs Clevite 77
Rich, These NOS Ford bearings appear to have a definite layering, steel back, copper and then the actual bearing material, dark gray, not the bright silverish color of a Clevite or Fed Mogul. Just...

Re: Transmission prices
Essentially the same except the synchro unit uses the 3 spring loaded balls instead of the spring wire ring and pressed blocks. The later synchro is easier to assemble also. If you have a good gear...
