On my '31 roadster the welting had a metal hook riveted to each end that fit into a slot at the bottom of each side of the cowl...stand the hood up on its cowl end as it's steadier in that position,...

We used a cock grease in the Shell oil refinery I used to work at that was gasoline proof as it wasn't hydrocarbon based...we ordered it from a company here in Houston called "Val-Tex"...I'm to call...

When I replaced my engine head gasket last year I removed all the old studs with a stud removal tool and then cleaned off the top of each piston and the engine deck itself. Then I chased the threads...

I looked at the seat (curtain) pans for the '29's and the '31's and they're the same so you'll have to cut some of the seat pan away to reach the body to frame mounting bolts for the outer seat belt...

The way I understand the principle of a venturi is that the gas passing throught it slows down and its pressure increases....

Joe just like others have said you cannot be too safe working with gasoline. Don't do this above a hot engine to avoid spilling raw fuel on the exhaust manifold...have shop rags available...always...
