I agree, 3 computer guys and they have no idea ?

A virus is only an infection of files.

A format wipes all files.

GOOD computer people CAN extract files from a formatted drive.

A way around this is to format drive and write the whole drive full and format it again.

This is not at all needed here.

To a timid person , the very most this computer needs is the hard drive alone being replaced .

The very least it needs is a simple format and re install of operating system .

IF the owner is locked out, a good tech can use DOS and get in and save stuff like pics and PDF files etc, I doubt these would ever be infected, and to be sure these files can be scanned before putting back on the fresh OS install.

Find a guy who knows something.

For 3 guys to say trash the WHOLE computer WOW.
