Re: Painting bumper clamps

I don't think Will has any, or makes any of them anymore. He has gotten rid of all of his Model A things.

Re: Altenator/Starter Issue

I will be the contrary one then. I run a 6 volt starter, with a 12 volt system and alternator, on my speedster with a 7:1 head. Also using the original starter bendix. I have 9,000 some miles on...

Re: Model A police car pictures needed

Almost all of them have Police on the hood. I agree, the coupe has a nice simple look, probably pretty close to what was the norm at the time.

Re: Paint finish

I think it would be key to figure out from NAPA whether or not it is a single stage urethane or base clear before you take an approach. That will make a big difference as to what your next steps are.

Re: Blind back briggs,

Lower body paint would be for the whole hood. Then the horizontal ridge running along the bottom edge of the top halves, this raised portion would be black, or upper body color.

Part of the belt...

Re: brake adjustment

The advantage to the notch method is that you can adjust them by yourself because you cant push the pedal and check wheels by yourself. It also gives a consistent point to adjust to, the same amount...

Re: brake adjustment

More than likely "not wrong", just not properly set up or adjusted. if all three other brakes are fine, then it is going to be some combination of adjusting the brake adjusting wedge either out or...

Re: front brake, rollers: what am i doing wrong...

I may not be seeing it quite right, but I think your next problem is going to be those massive locking pins holding the rollers together. I think they are going to interfere with the hub. The...

Re: Detached wire, running, but no headlights, turn signals or horn

I guess the only concern would be if the wire was removed for some reason, like a short somewhere.

Re: Modern Bendix

I personally am not a fan of the replacement bendix. I would never install one on any of my cars. i recently worked on a friends car that had one, and nkaminar is right, I had to take the water...

Re: Any advice?

I too would avoid just starting to switch out parts. Like mentioned previously, tighten all wire connections, adjust the points, clean out the carburetor, blowing out passages with air. I would run...

Re: Radiator baffle

I believe it's purpose is to act as sort of a dam, to slow/ redirect the water shooting up from the water pump, then sending it down through the tubes.

Re: Body/Paint shop in northern New England

Maybe it is a smaller business, maybe it is a hobbiest that does painting for others, maybe it is a painter that works for a company that does other side jobs, maybe someone "retired" that still...

Re: Fan Shroud?

If you have done all of this, then you have more of an issue going on than just a fan shroud will cure. The fan shroud would just be a bandaid attempt at the problem. There was basically 3,000,000...

Re: Leaking Carburetor leak found HOW can I fix this?

I think I would go with the repair that you are planning and then immediately look for a carburetor bottom half, clean it up and have it ready to go if needed. I am sure that you could find one...

Re: Looking for the rubber bushings that go on the front engine mount

It was just a washer. As Bob mentioned, the top side was a leather washer, then the underside was a flat washer, spring and nut. I think it was redesigned to float a little more.

Re: brake equalizer cross shaft

It would appear that you have later style brackets, with a split bushing, put on the original shafts. The picture above shows the proper bracket, which there is also not a bushing utilized.
