Re: Brand new engine won't start
After gearing myself up for a long day of tracing wires and checking every electrical component on my buddy's car, I solved the issue within 5 minutes. I checked the coil for power. It was fine,...

Re: Brand new engine won't start
I'm not really sure if he checked the switch or not. I will though tomorrow.
What has me puzzled is that he's got it to start two or three times in the last
month or so. You'd think it would either...

Re: Brand new engine won't start
Thanks everyone. Hopefully, it's going to be a simple fix but with electrical components, you never know. I set the timing correctly using a screwdriver to check when the piston came to the top and...

Brand new engine won't start
A buddy has purchased a touring engine for about
6K. I helped him install it but he finished it up himself. So, I'm not real sure what's wrong. He told me that he got it to start a couple of times...

Re: Brake rods on an early 28 sedan
I believe I have found the problem. Looks like someone, a very long time ago, took off the cross shaft and then put it on backwards when they re-installed it.
The top of the cross shaft (the part...

Re: Brake rods on an early 28 sedan
I plan on buying a set of the service bulletins the next time I place on order for parts. Brattons, like everyone else, charges around $12 for shipping whether you buy a big box full of stuff or an...

Re: Brake rods on an early 28 sedan
The brake rods are definitely different than mid 28 and up. I was told that I should make sure the top and bottom forks on the cross shaft were straight up and down. (12 and 6 o'clock) So, I spent...

Re: Brake rods on an early 28 sedan
Marco, I don't have any service bulletins for the car.
I think the back rods have been modified as well. The car's bracket is
made for an eye to fit into. Someone has used a brake rod with threads...

Re: Brake rods on an early 28 sedan
My E-brake handle is over by the driver side door.
It has the a different set up as most other Model A's have.
Where most linkage curves up and over the trans., mine are
two short rods that are...

Brake rods on an early 28 sedan
I bought new rods for the front as my originals were looking pretty worn.
The originals had been extended by about 1 1/4 inches.
I set the new ones at 51 7/16 like the book says but they wouldn't...

Re: Adjusting the door on a 28 tudor
Thanks Tinbasher. I'm probably going to have to do that.
I was hoping there was a way to shim the body or the door hinges
to get it straightened out. That will most likely take care of the door ...

Re: Adjusting the door on a 28 tudor
The belt line on the door matches the body's line just fine.
The problem lies between the gap at the bottom of the door and
the body, and the door hitting the body between the bottom and middle...

Re: Inside a carburetor float
Thanks everyone for the advice and info.
I think I'm just going to order a new float.
It definitely has liquid inside. It has so much, it sloshes.
Floats aren't really that costly.

I have a Tillotson carburetor that I'm rebuilding.
I took the float out and when I shook it, it has a
liquid inside.
I see that there's a drop of solder at the end of the

Re: Fair price for whitewall tires
I'd hate to paint them if someone could use them since they're
more expensive than blackwalls.
Seems like the tires might have to keep being touched
back up when the black would start to wear off...

Re: AR vs E28, which is correct??
One of the reasons I started using the term E28 was after seeing it used in the description in several parts catalogs like Macs and Snyders.
The other reason is because I used to call it an AR and...
