To stamp a new VIN on a frame to match a title is FRAUD! What if the car/truck was stolen back when and you sell to an out of state person who has to have the VIN verified by state authorities? If the vehicle had been stolen, you refund the money to the buyer and the vehicle is impounded and given to the insurance company or owner of record. You can tool around in your vehicle all smug and satisfied and then something happens and you are left empty handed.

I refuse to join that crap facebook site too.

But when I clicked the link and the opaque log in appeared, I just clicked on the pics under the log in, , and got in.

Um okay. So what do you suggest? Nobody can build a car out of parts anymore? How is that helping the hobby?

Every guy I ever talked to got the title transferred to their name first, and then when it came back (and the VIN checked in the computers,too)-then they stamped their vehicle with this number. No future owner is going to get "burned" by this vehicle.

mhsprecher, food for thought on the VIN and just a cab.
On my '53 F100 and on one I gave my son the VIN is on the glove box door, came that way from the factory.

I was contacted by the auctioneer of this auction on ebay, to sell some of my cars.
apparently this auction did 210,000. with all of the cars and parts brought in from the other sellers as well.
I went to one of this auctioneers auctions 3 years ago, and everything was given away.
In contrast, the prices here were on the high side in many cases, regarding the cars.
