Can you fill Us in a little more....Was this the "Same" rotor as when you were having the issue?? OR did you use a "different" rotor on the replacement distributor to make it run correctly??

Same rotor but different cap, condenser and distributor. I’m hoping that the problem will show up when tested on a Sun machine.

I'm interested too. Also curious about why the two plugs weren't damp or wet.

You may be able to see a distributor or points problem yourself by looking at steps from post #22.

Just my observations , todays fuel evaporates much faster than the older fuels ( alcohol or not ) with the warmth of th cylinders even if thy weren’t firing the block was warmed from the engine running . So the would evaporate the fuel if just looking at new plugs and not usinf a magnifying glass to look deep ino the plug

Yes, likely and with Ethanol blends, can’t color read plugs.

Thanks again to everyone for the help to this 83 year old man. My plan is to box the Distributor up just like it came off the car and have it tested on a Sun machine. I'll check with Third Generation Auto as soon as Hershey is over. I will report back. Thanks Glenn, Ggmac, and others who stayed with me on this.

Look at the cam lobes on the distributor too, unlikely that they would wear. At this point, "turn over every rock"
