Just my observations , todays fuel evaporates much faster than the older fuels ( alcohol or not ) with the warmth of th cylinders even if thy weren’t firing the block was warmed from the engine running . So the would evaporate the fuel if just looking at new plugs and not usinf a magnifying glass to look deep ino the plug

Look at the cam lobes on the distributor too, unlikely that they would wear. At this point, "turn over every rock"
