Re: 1939 Ford 3 speed top loader help

Re: Flathead block cleaning....
I'd be suspect of the rust around #2 cylinder exhaust valve. Clean the rusty area well and inspect the block for a crack there. Good luck.

Re: Mecum Auction Dallas
The above mentioned Vicky seems to have an odd rear roof line, more like a Tudor than a Vicky. Did anyone else notice this. Is the body Australian possibly or modified?
Thanks, Paul J.

Re: 1939 Tonner brakes?
The 1938 - 1946 parts book lists the front wheel cylinders as a 91A part number so same half ton or car, the rear uses a 92Y-2192 wheel cylinder which is 1 3/8" bore.
I'd check with James at...

Re: Cast vs. stamped steel clam shells
I believe the early '32 were forged 2 piece and then the same part shows up again in '35 for a period of time. The forged unit bears a "B" part number.

Re: 1940 Ford wheels?
If not a typo, then agreed, we should school them, wheels are measured inside the flange. The wheel will be stamped with the size near the date stamp also.

Re: '32 vs '33-34 brake questions
Yes, all parts are the same, most carry "B" part numbers except the brake rods and crosshaft unit on the crossmember which are different '32 to '33/'34.
As a side note Ford did change the grease...

Agreed, my thoughts exactly. I operated a production shop and this was the issue the majority of time. If not, an incorrect drive roll or dirty liner will cause similar issues. Good luck
