180 isn't that hot but vapor lock is a pain in the butt with mech. pumps, go electric and make sure your fan is either pulling or pushing depending on how it is set up. i run a larger electric fan,...

i have been driving flatheads since high school (1955-59) and i have had nothing but problems with mechanical fp's and always go electric. vapor lock used to drive me nuts but i have never had vapor...

i don't know about fuel line being blocked, when that happens the gauge usually fluctuates quite a bit.

i just use a bit of electrical tape to cover the stud and overlap a little bit and they snug right up and stay on and are easy to pop off.

with 3 carbs you might want to move it up to 3 or 3 1/2 and try that for a while. i run 2 97's and 2 1/2 is a little less than it wants, especially in 2d to 3rd gear at around 60, it stumbled a bit...

i went to the local farm and ranch supply and bought a couple hydraulic hoses off the shelf that worked perfectly. cost 10 or 15 bucks. just match up the fittings. did this on my 52 f1.

i kinda mis-spoke about the shocks, what i meant was i asked him if i should put on new modern shocks instead of the lever style. i never tested the original shocks and i don't know if they are good...

i have a 47 tudor and would like to smooth out the ride without a lot of modifications. my buddy, an old car guy said it don't need shocks just grease between the leaves on the springs and keep it...

can't really tell but the thing with the hole in it could maybe be the optional spotlight/driving light that is on the front bumper 52-54 mercs. i had them on my 53 monterey.

yes, a vacuum leak or something might be causing your fuel to bleed back into the line/tank when shut down. check your gas cap too for vent.

years ago my high school buddy ran a fake filler to a gallon container which he pissed in and poured waste liquids in and every now and then he would get some fool trying to steal gas. his gas...
