Re: alternative to red fluid fuel gauge?
the specific gravity of tetra-bromo-ethane is 2.95
the specific gravity of mecurochrome is 0.89-0.95
So that won't work...and is probably even more toxic than the tetra!

Re: Detonation in my 59AB engine

In post#7 I put up a chart, a bit hard to read, sorry, that shows the advance details of various distributor versions. The '68' refers to 1936 model Fords....

Re: Detonation in my 59AB engine
The distributor you get third gen to modify will fix your detonation...using the '68' advance curve is a far better solution than either retarding the whole distributor, or cranking down the vacuum...

Re: floating brake shoes on 34 front drums
Vincent, will that engine actually fit into the engine bay? Not a lot of room in a 34 ford. you still have the french governor casting piece at back of block; will that clear the firewall? I had to...

Re: Another carburetor question
the stainless fasteners and linkages, along with the 'S' symbol stamped into the choke butterfly tell me this is a 'genuine' British Stromberg
Again, I doubt it needs a rebuild- what for??

i had the same problem with an engine a while back. It had 165 lbs compression at cranking speed and would detonate badly. I modified the advance curve of the crab distributor by using the advance...

Re: 35 Tudor Lights
To remove the headlite bezel, after unlatching it at the bottom like you have, just pull it from the bottom forward and up. Maybe, because it's been in place so long it is somewhat stuck. You may...
