Re: 40/41 Pickup owners

I had this issue so I loosened the hood hinges on the cowl of the cab. Soak with a good penetrant if you have not had them out yet. This made a huge difference with the final hood fit up.
Good Luck,...

Re: Shifting tower/arm on my '42 PU

I'd say the 1/4" pin which aligns the shifter is worn and is allowing the shifter to "rotate" in the top. Carefully extract the pin, cut the shank from a 1/4" drill and try again. This is a quick fix...

Re: 1939-48 Trans. Gear Condition Question

The worn teeth on these 2 gears will cause the brass synchro rings to wear sooner than later, will seem Ok at first with new synchros but will eventually show up.

At the cost of a good cluster...

Re: Shifting fork pins

I use needle nose, Vise Grip needle nose, a very small pair of pliers I have, which ever seems to work with the tower I'm working on. I also use a pin the same size to keep the fork aligned with the...

'32, '33 or '34 Gear Shift

I'm looking for a '32 to '34 shift handle in good usable condition. I'd prefer a '32 gear shift though would be interested in a '33-'34. Handle can be bent slightly.

I also need a "B" transmission...

Re: 39 clutch pedal lock pin

I would not ream the hole as is suggested, too much material is removed and a new pin will not peen in tight enough to take up the clearance. I use the new supplied pins from Job Lot or others and...

Try Job lot Ford in NY for chassis components, they do have some NOS parts at reasonable prices. Ask for James.

Re: wire wheel rust removal question...........

I would be cautious of the electrolysis method on wire wheels. I've used the process on a lot of sheet metal and frame components. I thought it would work well on 16" KH wire wheels which it did...

Re: Has anyone tried this for steering wheel cracks

We've used Marinetex for years, sold through West Marine. A 2 part epoxy for hull repair, no shrinkage on a '40 Deluxe wheel done over 30 years ago.

Re: 3 Speed Transmission Identification

I've seen both the "48" and "78" cases with the rib, I believe it was a mid 30's feature as the "78" cases which were introduced w/ the 29T cluster seem to not have the rib, at least in my...
