I discovered a small crack on my block the first time I dropped the oil pan. Bummer, I thought, it was right where the gasket and pan mated to the block. So I manipulated the gasket to kinda cover it...

I will pull the drums off today, I have not had them off yet. Nothing lined up well and the old rods were all bent to fit the angle of the lever. It's hard to imagine it working like that for so long...

I have the 4 blade fan, I wish there was an easy way to pull this water pump out, when I do should I go with a 2 blade fan? I have read the forums that say to lean the radiator forward.

I just checked the play on my water pump, and I got about 1/8 of an inch. I am looking at a leak less water pump from snyders, that way I don,t have to worry about the head (that is the free play)....

Well I did it! Looks great! Thanks to all your advice. The rubber things at the bottom had to come off. And I was able to prop a piece of 2x4 at the door latch, pull the bottom corner of the door...

I guess I could live with it. You think Bill it is a bad idea? And yes I had those little rubber wedges out, replaced them with new ones.
