Default Can I remove the Rear Axle without removal of remaining drive shaft?

I've order the Pinion nut Wrenches, and they are on thier way. But was wondering if I can still work on this and remove the rear axle from the Banjo without remoing Pinion/leftover shaft in banjo? Or do I move onto something else and wait for the Pinion wrenches to come in to finish dissambling? Just a question since I like to focus on working one item at a time and plus I'm impatient (LOL).
