A few years back I wanted to see just how many different "BLACK" designations there were in the MARC/MAFCA Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards.
Here were my results... CODES All “sprayed” (S) parts are Moderate Gloss (MG) according to the Paint & Finish Guide, page 12. All “dipped” (D) parts are Very Glossy (VG) according to Paint & Finish Guide, page 12. Unknown (U). Black (B). Black Enamel (BE). Black Japan Baking Enamel (BJBE). Black Lacquer (BL). Black Moderate Gloss (BMG). Chassis Black Enamel (CBE). Chassis Black Pyroxylin Lacquer (CBPL). Dull Black (DB). Dull Black Enamel (DBE). Dull Black Gas Resistant Japan Enamel (DBGRJE). Dull Black Nickel (DBN). Dull Black Wood Preservative (DBWP). Gloss Black (GB). Gloss Black Enamel (GBE). Japan Black Enamel (JBE). Japan Enamel (JE). Low Gloss (LG). Low Gloss Black Lacquer (LGBL). Rubbed Out To Very Glossy (ROTVG). Rubberized Black Enamel (RBE). Satin Black (SB). Semi-Gloss (SG). Semi Gloss Black Enamel (SGBE). * there is another finish also (see Judging Standards). This was done in 2006 so hopefully the NEW Revised 2011 standards have reduced this list...have not yet checked. Interesting. Pluck |
