1936 coupe roof question
Does anyone know why ford put the canvas top insert in the roof. I have heard two different reasons. Was it a cost factor to save on material or was there a technology issue forming the roof.

there a technology issue forming the roof.
I have read there was a technology issue. I guess the deep draw needed to form the roof wasn't available at that time. |

It must have been cheaper than the labor to weld 5 or 6 pieces together. |
