Default Gear teeth....the rest of the story

Guys, on your trans rebuild check list remember to inspect more than just the condition of gear teeth. The roller / needle bearing bores in the cluster
and main drive gear....very critical obviously....NOS measures 1.1255....
1.126 I think anything over 1.129 is problematic. The pilot bearing dia
on the main drive gear....I like .686 / .683. Often over looked ,I have
discovered, is the thin wall bushing in second gear on the '39 up trans. After
rebushing 2nd I fit it to its mainshaft with a light drag then run it in at
2100 rpm in my lathe. It ends up with an almost free spin but no rock at all.
