I bought mine from macs or snyders. But I think they both carry it. I was just looking for the better price. It's listed under power inverter in the index I think. I believe it was $98 bucks

I got a cube radio from Menards its a SuperSonic Model SC-1325 its FM also has a usb port so you can use a flash drive with pre-recorded music or an sc drive. The provided usb cord acts as an antenna.

If you do an fleabay search for "6 to 12 volt converter" you will find several 6 to 12 volt converters. For some reason, the one I used is now priced at $99.75 when I paid something like $4.99 for it. I suspect their pricing is wrong. Anyway, that will give you an idea of where I found mine. Might drop them a note and ask if the price is wrong.
The vendor (coldfusionx) lists some other converters as well for much less. Steve |

I had a radio guy put a 1934 Motorola NOS in my Model A pickup in about 1971. It runs with control cables and is hanging upside down between the gas tank and the top of the steering column. It works good for AM. I don't know what I will do, when a tube goes. I may switch over to a 6 volt Volkswagen. I bought a real expensive gizmo that goes between the antenna wire to plug in my IPod, but the impedance or something like that causes interference. It cost $150.00 what a waste of $. If you do get a radio; you will need a spark suppressor on the coil wire. I saw some on Ebay for a lot of money. I hope this helps.

I bought an original ford 1933 car radio 6 volt with tubes that I will be installing in a 1933 ford glove box. I have to instal ressitors on the spark plugs and generator to reduce radio interference. |

I actually hardly ever use it - it's really there for kicks and giggles when I have friends or acquaintances riding in the car. I keep an iPod hooked up to a FM transmitter ($15 at Wally World) in the car at all times - it's loaded up with 1920s-1930s tunes (and a few Glenn Miller songs as well). |

In the 60s when it was my daily driver I rigged up a 6V 52 Chevy car radio in my 29 tudor. It sat in the back seat floor and the antenna was mounted on the left rear window glass with a homemade clamp bracket. (The glass still has the scratches). And yes, ignition noise was a problem. Seems like I had some kind of suppressor but it was still noisy. Crude and cheap, but it worked.

Found this cool looking "retro" radio that has an input for an iPod. So I have it hanging by the rearview mirror and my iPod hidden and a bunch of 1930's tunes playing while I drive.

MP3 player with ear buds (or in my case Bluetooth hearing aids) works just fine for me. If I get sick of my music, I can tune in FM radio on it (like $25.00 at WalMart).

Remove the chip and connect it to your computer. Then simply drag and drop the music you like to the chip. |

My dad installed a Motorola 309 in our 31 coupe, an all-in-one aftermarket unit from 1950, AM only, 6-volt, positive ground. I recently replaced all the capacitors and got it working.

YES -- I had one made using a '32 Philco Control Head that sets on my steering shaft just like then. Unfortunately, the owner of that company pasted away. I have photo's and the name of another firm that'll take any control head and adapt it to the new transistor. I also have a collection of controllers for this purpose. I can gift you one, but I'm only able to deal with e-mail, I see you decline contact. I'm not interested in selling the controllers, but can offer to gift you a choice. I used a meganitc antenna.

Many many moons ago, I put a 6V car radio into my 45B Coupe. Listening to tunes was not enjoyable because of the car's running noise and static from the ignition. Using a head set would have eliminated the car noise, but eliminating the ignition static would have required shielding & electrical filtering. I tried mimicking the Chevy Corvette's radio shielding, but it was hopeless so the radio was discarded.
I suggest that you use a cell phone with ear speakers.
