Re: Fuel Filter issue
The Wix filter is good and I use that with what I said before. No need to overthink
this. |

Re: Fuel Filter issue
I use the John Deere GY20709. You can get it at any box store. It is for a garden tractor. Works well.

Re: Fuel Filter issue
I have been using the gas filter for three VW bug for over 30 years with no problems. I have this filter under the dash on the line from the shutoff valve to the firewall. I don't care for having the filter in the engine compartment.

Re: Fuel Filter issue
I use 1980s Chev. fuel filter. It has the same flared fitting as the valve under
the tank. It is so grossly over size it does not interfere with fuel flow. ( a little larger than a coke can) JB l tank

Re: Fuel Filter issue
I use the factory filters (firewall, and carb), with a pencil filter in the ball valve that exits the tank. Oh, and I do not use BP/Sohio fuels.

Re: Fuel Filter issue
BP - British Petroleum
SOHIO - Standard Oil of Ohio Both are petroleum refiners retailing fossil fuel in North America. Standard Oil was founded by John Rockefeller in America. At some point it became AMOCO, which was bought out by BP, which is an English outfit. Standard Oil alos developed a process of Ammoxidation complex chemical process involving o2 enrichment of the fuel. Therefore referred to as SOHIO gas..... |

Re: Fuel Filter issue
8EL,
thank you very much for the detailed explanation. This is therefore not a type of fuel. And the above rejection is a political decision, I think.

Re: Fuel Filter issue
Model A
Do you put the pill magnet inside the filter on the bottom or do you put it outside the filter on the bottom. Thanks

Re: Fuel Filter issue
Good Morning...Our Model A has a glass filter on the firewall. I put a big magnet from Ace Hardware into the glass bowl. I can see when I need to open the filter and clean the gunk off the magnet...Has worked well for 18 years. Had my first Model A in the early 60's and that is how it was rigged when I purchased it. I've just continued to do the same thing. Ernie in Arizona
