Default another flathead starts up

This is the start up a couple of days ago of the 304 I built 6 months ago. Has one of Pete's 425 potvin cams.

Sounds Good. That's a lot of work to get it to that point. Looking forward to see more of it.

NEVER allow a new engine build to idle at slow RPM.

I seem to recall that with a cam as aggressive as a 425, that the engine should never be idled low, even after the engine is all bedded in. Higher idle throws more oil at the camshaft and lifters. Can't remember where I heard it, but seems to make sence.
What's your thoughts on this John?
Would running the late Merc rods with the oil hole directed towards the cam help here? Would this allow the idle to be bought down?
I'm talking about an engine that's already been bedded in or run in or whatever it's called over there.
Martin.

The vid is the only time engine has been run. Owner has already been advised to not run again until ready for complete break in.

4tford, no I'm unable to make Gimli Beach cruise this year. If you could find the time when you get there have a Cold beverage for me.
