RICHARD IN FLORIDA ....................
I have a NOS Locking Gas Cap, for 1953-1957 listed in the FOR SALE Section, for $45.00. The box says "Non Vented". It has two "GAS" marked keys. MIKE ![]() CLICK ON PHOTO TO ENLARGE - Twice |

I don't believe that you should doubt the information, written on a genuine Ford box, containing a NOS 1953 gas cap.

Richard if the tank you ordered has a tube running along the top of the fuel inlet neck your cap does not need to be vented. Look at your old tank if you still have it, it has the tube across the top of the tank and up the filler neck.

I know that my 54 Ford and 56 Bird does not have a vent in the tank. 57 was the first year for a vent in a TBird.

Richard, Not vented to prevent overflow from a fast start. Only the wagon cap is vented. The correct tank is vented.

All logic and reason told me "non-vented" but I'm fighting a spooky fuel escape problem and I was covering basic bases.
