I have a NOS Locking Gas Cap, for 1953-1957 listed in the FOR SALE Section, for $45.00. The box says "Non Vented". It has two "GAS" marked keys. MIKE :) (mikeburch) CLICK ON PHOTO TO ENLARGE - Twice |
Re: 1953 Ford Car Fuel Tank Cap As far as I know, Yes it should be vented.

Re: 1953 Ford Car Fuel Tank Cap Mike has it right. NOT VENTED.

Re: 1953 Ford Car Fuel Tank Cap well the tank is vented right? so the cap does not need to be

Re: 1953 Ford Car Fuel Tank Cap Seem to remember as most say here. The tank I believe has a separate vent line out the side of the tank? I got a '58 Farlane tank here, that has the vent pipe. Ment to be used with a non vented cap. Maybe cus if the cap (that faces backwards and low down) is vented, gas will find its way out on acceleration?

Re: 1953 Ford Car Fuel Tank Cap I don't believe that you should doubt the information, written on a genuine Ford box, containing a NOS 1953 gas cap.

Re: 1953 Ford Car Fuel Tank Cap Richard if the tank you ordered has a tube running along the top of the fuel inlet neck your cap does not need to be vented. Look at your old tank if you still have it, it has the tube across the top of the tank and up the filler neck.

Re: 1953 Ford Car Fuel Tank Cap I know that my 54 Ford and 56 Bird does not have a vent in the tank. 57 was the first year for a vent in a TBird.

Re: 1953 Ford Car Fuel Tank Cap my 52 merc has 1

Re: 1953 Ford Car Fuel Tank Cap Richard, Not vented to prevent overflow from a fast start. Only the wagon cap is vented. The correct tank is vented.

Thanks to All All logic and reason told me "non-vented" but I'm fighting a spooky fuel escape problem and I was covering basic bases.
