I rebuilt my transmission a couple years ago and bought a new USA made input shaft/main gear, new cluster gear, and a new low reverse gear. I also replaced all the bearings and the idler and cluster shafts with the o-ring ones. I kept my idler gear and 2nd/high gear since they were in good shape. I don't have enough experience with other model A's or NOS gears to know if mine makes any more noise than normal but it seems to work great in my experience (about 2,000 miles). Naturally if you can find all NOS gears that's the way to go but its going to be extra time or money and maybe both. If you can find good original gears your mileage may vary if you're mixing ones with different amounts of wear. Of course I did this too by mixing my new gears with my used 2nd/high gear and reverse idler but all seems ok. I stuck with the USA made gears and visually they looked well made and a good fit and visually near identical to the originals they replaced. The one (out of two) sliding gears I replaced fit just right on my output shaft and wasn't too tight or two loose and I had no issues with the cluster gear or main shaft either. I don't feel that its too noisy and it doesn't slip out of gear at any time.
