New rear axle bearing and spacer from C&G Ford and I finally got the machine shop to press off the old one and on with the new one on the 52 Merc. Checking it out today I find the new one different from the original in that it does not have the extra "shoulder" on the bearing race that protrudes slightly into the outer bearing retainer. It all went together ok and there is no end play but I' wondering how well this is going to work. Have not done a test drive to check for hot spots yet. The photo shows the new bearing on the left and an original on the right.

The FORD part number is: 8A1225 fits/suits '49-55 NOT convertible/station wagon,
Aftermarket bearing part numbers: BCA 88107-AR (with retaining ring),FAFNIR 207KTT-6, ND 88107AR (with retaining ring) ,L&S BEARINGS 88107R (R denotes retaining ring),MRC 207FFS7,FEDERAL FS88107CR, FEDERAL FS88107FR, GREEN 88107 , It doesn't appear/seem that the bearing is fitted correctly aas there's far&way too much gap between the bearing &locking collar/ring also the bearing appears/looks like/seems to be the incorrect/wrong type it's supposed to have an protrusion sticking out of both ends if you turn the bearing on it's side, the protrusion of the inner race is to allow room for the inner rear wheel oil seal which fits/sits inside the axle housing ....., if i can figure out how to upload a photo of the bearing it'll give you a better idea..... |

H/D axle &convertibles&wagons use 88128-R they're a larger size bearing &locking collar/retainer/shrink ring as is the rear wheel oil seal.

I'd personally return it & get C&G to supply the correct right type of bearing ,
It appears&seems that they only supplied a generic ball bearing in the same dimensions BUT/EXCEPT the CORRECT&RIGHT rear wheel bearing is nearly 26MM W (wide) so there'll be a gap between where the sandwhich plate bolts to the gasket&the bearing which also means there'll be a gap where the rear wheel inner oil seal fits on the axle that goes /sits inside the axle tube..... |

So according to C&G's numbers the one I have should be right for my sedan. I guess the Chinese bearings are a "will fit" but not necessarily looking the same as an original Ford part.

The chinese 88107AR SHOULD be an EXACT/PRECISE/SAME dimensions&type btw/fyi: the width of a 88107AR is .9843 (25mm) your chinese 88107AR SHOULD be that overall width....., if not then there'll be a gap between where the bearing&collar sits on the axle not too mention the rear axle inner oil seal....., same on C&G to procure/order&supply chinese made bearings when they (88107AR ) are STILL being made in the USA !!!!!.... by both BCA &TIMKEN (FAFNIR) bearings ...... sigh i/we can still procure/order&supply euro/usa bramd&made 88107's some were made with a metal sheild both sides as opposed to rubber sealed both sides.....
