Take a look at the pictures the O/P posted on Post 9 of this thread. It shows the similarities and differences pretty well.

Yeah. Not sure what that thing is. The OP should show the bottom side of the valve, and a pic of his carb.
The Ford manual shows a spark control valve that looks like the one in your pic #8 of the link you posted, which looks like the one I posted, but from the cross section in the manual, the spark control valve would have no “port” or opening on the bottom for the vacuum signal. The vacuum signal would only come via an opening on the side of the valve. For sure this is confusing, and that’s why I’m a bit curious to learn a bit more about this spark control feature. Link to the Ford Service Manual for the Model-AA, 94, and 2110 carbs. https://www.carburetor-parts.com/ass...xjGIwdR_-yUyJK Link to a thread on the HAMB about same question and someone who had a spark control valve installed where the power valve was located. lol! https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...-valve.144913/ |

I'm surprised at how many people aren't aware of these things. Why Ford made them look almost identical and with the same thread as a power valve is beyond me. Probably a way to save a few bucks. Almost all kits these days come with both. Since it will screw into the power valve socket, people without the requisite knowledge have a 50/50 chance of getting the wrong valve installed with the attendant bad results.
BTW, I also send my carbs to Charlie. |
