I think I do need main bearings, haven't cleaned and measured yet but they look kinda dubious. Guess I'll be watching eBay.

With issues like the only gasket set I've seen for sale was something like $450, not much gonna get done till these bearings are figured out.

Watch me go extreme. My 96 F250 30,000 miles former fire truck decommission'd for the need of exhaust manifold gaskets as expected all bolts snapped so either the eng comes out or the heads come off UGG. I have a former fire truck low mile 337 engine I been starring at so sweet.. machine bell housing adapter for C6 good = only biggest problem is radiator cause F250s low cross flow maybe I could modify the radiator support ? next hurdle is the rear distributor I'm not fond of, & clearance? the good things I imagine open the hood and see a engine, miles of wires, fuel injection gone, no more check eng light & all that foolishness. my mind says all our great successful forefathers had a dream which built this country....

big job, I'm entertained by your idea. Could you use two cheap aluminum downflow radiators, with each one hooked up to one side of the big 337? Something like generic hot rod Model A radiators?

We are dangerously close to off topic here...

Thanks for the update. I'm having the block boiled cleaned and magnafluxed. If therer are not too many cracks, I may offer it for sale here. Or rebuild it and the sell it. I don't have a project car.
I do think that with H&H heads and either 4 barrel manifold or the blower manifold would make a pretty cool car.....

Doesn't seem like you could get your money back rebuilding then selling one of these things.

Not if you have to pay a machinist full shop rates. Burt for a DIY person it might be interesting.
Let's be clear - it is not going to get a HP champ. For that, get an LS motor.

But for a cool ride, it could do will enough.

I've had the block and heads boiled out and maganfluxed. The heads are fine. The block has four small cracks. All fixable, but beyond my skill set.

So, I will be putting the complete engine up for sale.

Haven't formally listed anywhere. For now, if you come get it, the whole thing is yours. Block, heads, pistons, cranks, etc.

Save any old bearings as you can have them coated to get more use out of them.

A while back i visited Egge machine in California. They have the equipment needed to rebabitt insert type bearings using the original bearing shells.
If all else fails that could be an option.

I sold my 430 Lincoln to a man in Pa for his ‘39 Lincoln Zephyr. (He’s a hot rodder and wanted more power than the V12 could give him)

I would love to replace it with a 337 Flathead. If I could only get out your way. Dang!

I’m afraid of what that freight bill might look like. I did go to Ohio once to pick up a 317” Lincoln/Truck Y-block. Maybe I can………
