Are you talking about the glass bowl strainer or later models that had a screw on fuel filter below the fuel pump?

I suppose I did not ask the question very well. Evidently it took quite a few years for the decision that a filter would be good insurance to keep the carburetor working properly. I can remember an old Allis Chalmers tractor I owned would occasionally have a bug in the sediment jar.
