Hello
I purchased this head from a very helpful person at the The Race of Gentlemen a few years back. He was remaking these along with some other speed parts. Does anyone know how to reach him and purchase more parts? Thanks Ken IMG_3612.jpg IMG_3613.jpg |

My CCPU has one of Dan's earlier heads with the 4-bolt water pump and just love it. If you think that a 6:1 head wakes up an A wait till you try this at 7:1

back to OP's original Q,
I wonder if this was a head made by Tod Buttermore? He was also heavy into making block(s) and other heads. Not sure what happened, he disappeared? John

I first got interested in the Thomas equipment back in the sixties. My observation at that time was they only produced a head and manifold. Later items came from people like Dan Price. I believe he retooled the head and manifold and added a Models B side plate that looked like it belonged with the other parts. I have never seen a side plate with the logo that fit a Model A.
An observation about the current manifolds is that the word “Thomas” is located once at each end instead of being once in the center. Attached is a picture I took at the LA Roadster show several years ago showing what I believe is an original manifold with the logo in the center. The is also a newly added manifold produced for 3 two-barrel carburetors which is probably far more than most engines need. It looks neat but I would block of one if not two of the carburetors. |

Tod's version of the Thomas head and modern type exhaust manifold casting dies seem to be up for sale by Don Snyder. |

There was an advertisement in SOSS a few months ago for the EX Mani and Thomas head by Ferguson. In any event there is opportunity out there to keep some of this equipment flowing. J
