Maybe 60 yrs ago my father made a little hot roders modification to one of his hub caps on the 34.
I guess it was popular at the time? They still worked until I bumped it doing an oil change. I'm in need of an old bulb socket that has snapped. To make it difficult the back side of the socket is threaded. It is pot metal so I can't solder. I doubt there would be enough meat to jb weld either. I'll attach pictures....or not file error? Have you gotten pix to attach before? They have to be JPEG's or similar and be relatively small sized files. (On my computer,) I open a picture, usually make a copy and then take one, go to "tools", select "change size" and look at the height and width. Whichever is larger, I change it to 800 pixels and the other should change to 600. I save that image and that's the one that the FordBarn software will accept.

"Muggy-Weld"? I've tried it twice; worked great the first time, not at all the next. I think it depends on the alloy of the metal you're repairing.

Find something tubular to act as a band, JB weld in on being sure the bulb notches stay clear, and maybe shorten the bulb pegs a bit if needed.
How does the electric part of that set-up work? |

That must have a connection like a horn button. Allows it to turn and have an electrical contact. That must look like a circle of light at night when the car is moving. I put small lights on the king pin caps of a Peterbilt I used to run. It looked like a circle of light behind the wheel going down the road at night........Mark

Here are some pics of the wiring and brush on the wheel/ break drum. Wired to a switch under the dash. Dad did this back in the late 50's.

Terry,
Very clever idea. I would just replace it with a new bulb and socket. It’s not like it’s original equipment. Richard |

My head is hurting trying to imagine out how the electrical supply gets into the space behind the hup cap!
