The tank on the pickup is above the drivers knees. The cowl, instrument panel and part of the fire wall is the fuel tank, with the filler cap and the wind screen on top.
Sadly, a very dangerous position if you are in a serious accident.

That only applies to the Model T and A. The later years placed the tank elsewhere.

The V8 era cars aren't gravity feed; they rely on a mechanical fuel pump that's mounted at the rear of the intake manifold to suck fuel out of the tank. You won't get any sort of gravity feed action with the tank level below the carburetor.
