1933 ford pu gas tank tank is rotted out and Ild like to place a tank in the front of the bed.
Is that enough height for gravity feed or do I need to install a fuel pump? |
Re: 1933 ford pu gas tank It's doubtful that a tank that is level with or below the carburetor will have any gravity flow. The B engine and all of the V8 engines were set up for a fuel pump. If mechanical won't work then use an electric one. A fuel pressure regulator may be needed depending on the carburetor and type of pump in use.

Re: 1933 ford pu gas tank The tank on the pickup is above the drivers knees. The cowl, instrument panel and part of the fire wall is the fuel tank, with the filler cap and the wind screen on top.
Sadly, a very dangerous position if you are in a serious accident. Regards Chris |
Re: 1933 ford pu gas tank 1932 Ford pickups have the tank under the drivers seat, and I assume the '33-'34 pickups do too. Are you sure you don't have a Model A pickup? If so, the tank might gravity feed a stock carb, but a pump should be used with a downdraft carb.

Re: 1933 ford pu gas tank ITS A 33 FORD PU- TANK IS LOCATED ALL THE WAY BACK ON THE FRAME RAILS- WELL NOT ANYMORE. i REMOVED IT THIS AFTERNOON.
sorry about the caps- stuck anyway it is a 33 and not under the seat, as in the 32. this sits on the frame rail as does my 39 panel. I thought with the bed being elevated, it might flow down to the carb. maybe not? |
Re: 1933 ford pu gas tank Don't you have a fuel pump?
