I don't believe the hype. You still do see truck recaps blow off, but there hasn't been a notable increase in passenger car blowouts. Besides, back in the day, didn't we all drive on them till the second layer of threads were visible? I know I did, and gauged it right most of the time. The difference was if Bruce's Tires would recap them or not. Bruce's was right here in Oakland. I wonder how many remember Bruces? I think he was the first to make slicks, wasn't he?
