Coker Tires

Apparently Coker Tires is taking a 5-25% price increase on new and pending orders. Posted over on the HAMB.

Just about everything we buy has gone up in price, so what's the point??

While on the subject of COKER Tyres, how unusual is this? Back in the early 70's, the OLYMPIC TYRE COMPANY of Australia made these 6.00 x 16" Tyres branded COKER TIRE CO for Export. I was lucky enough to get a set "out of the back door". They are still on my car and still look perfect, after all these years.

So....how fast do you dare to drive on those 50-year-old tires? DD

I don't believe the hype. You still do see truck recaps blow off, but there hasn't been a notable increase in passenger car blowouts. Besides, back in the day, didn't we all drive on them till the second layer of threads were visible? I know I did, and gauged it right most of the time. The difference was if Bruce's Tires would recap them or not. Bruce's was right here in Oakland. I wonder how many remember Bruces? I think he was the first to make slicks, wasn't he?

So, a few of you here who have posted own your own business. Have you ever raised your prices in order to keep up with salary, inflation, cost of raw materials, shipping? I would certainly hope so.

I have a good friend is one of the top chefs/names in prime steaks. He said, for the first time ever, his cost of shipping is the same as the cost of product.

Thanks Krylon32, that got me off my butt. I've been procrastinating on ordering tires.

Re: Coker Tires

Never thought I'd see it in my little hole in wall business, in the last year everything
from propane for heat, component prices including NAPA , USPO/UPS shipping, fuel
has jumped noticeably. My regular source for the material I make fuel pump diaphragms

from quoted a 65% increase in price. The manufacturer passed his increase on to
my vendor who passed it on to me....65%. I can guarantee my prices will go up some
but not near the equivalent. It's the economics of capitalism, not greed, or let's just
blame it on covid.

I remember Bruce's slicks. he was always at Fremont Drag Strip with a Ford van full of tires.

Re: Coker Tires

I personally Wouldn't mind if this company went under. I have had such poor quality from them on many occasions. I don't like tires that shake my car like I'm loosing a wheel or axle bearing. Tim
