You might also want to remove the speedo and lubricate it with a light oil (sewing machine oil?). The one in my 50 Custom Deluxe also bounced around (at low speeds) and made noises. There should be a place to apply oil. Mine had what looked like a wick sticking up out of an opening. Just a few drops and then I modified a nail and used a drill to turn the speedo with the nail to work it in. Run the drill counterclockwise as you face the back of the speedo..
