For me, this would be an inappropriate item to save money on. It would be okay if it simply controlled the ignition switch because you could simply jump the wires on the back to start and operate the vehicle if the lock failed to operate as intended. Not so with the locking steering column part of the lock assembly where an inoperable lock cylinder could leave you high and dry at what would inevitably be either a bad time or a bad place or both.
