At First, Merry Christmas to all of you.
I have one more question regarding my 9" clutchplate.
The Repair-Manual (Christmas Present) says, that the Trucks Always have pressure-plates with 9 Springs, instead of 6 Springs. Is that right?

Are there any 9"clutchplates with 9 Springs?
Maybe Fortwayne send me the wrong Pressureplate (6 Spings)....

Thanks for your help, Nico

No...all 9" pressure plates run 6 springs. You'll be fine with what fort wayne supply. And Merry Christmas to you

Hi Brian,
at The early_ford_store of CA i found a 9" pressure-plate with 9 springs,
its item Nr. 48-7563.
That's make me thinking of, do i have enough pressure on the plate with only 6 springs
for the weight of my 1 1/5 Ton Truck?

How Big is the difference between 6 or 9 Springs in the pressure plate?
Has any one expience?

Thanks, Nico

Your truck is fairly light weight unless you are planning on adding something heavy to the back of it or carrying heavy loads. A heavy clutch is required with a truck preforming heavy duty work. For most of us this would not be the case with a restored truck.

Sorry Nico, I was unaware of such an item, however, I agree with what JSeery has written. I have also heard of individuals fitting 10" springs into a 9" cover to achieve a more 'robust' clutch. Maybe have the conversation with Fort Wayne?

Nico, I have a question for you- in the photo you posted that shows the 4 speed hanging on a sling, it appears that the clutch lever [operating arm] is facing down. Is that the correct orientation?
Shouldn't it be at 180 degrees to that?

Hi Brian,
oh, that's o.k. it just turns backwards when moving the gearbox.
Normaly it stands in up-direction :-)).

Thanks for your help guys, and you are right.
I dont want to bring him back to Heavy-Duty work.
My wife and me are slim People...;-)

Cheers, Nico
