Right Clutch Pressure Plate?

Hello Gentlemans,
what should be the right clutch parts für my 1934 Ford BB 1.5 Ton Truck?
These Clutch is installed, but i am not happy because the clearance between the fingers & the bearing is far too much. Its the 4 Speed Transmission, but i am a little bit affraid to buy at Macs because of the low quality.

Thanks for any advise, Nico

Re: Right Clutch Pressure Plate?

You can end up that way if the clutchdisc is to thick or the fingers ainīt correctly adjusted.
Or just that the modern replacement pressureplate is not made right...

The photo illustrates that the fingers on your pressure plate are incorrect.

Re: Right Clutch Pressure Plate?

At First, i was quite happy to see the clutches was already done......
O.K. so i have to change everything :(

Where can i order the right parts in good quality?
I don't think that Mac's has the right quality.
Who is the best vendor for Ford clutches/pressure plates?

Thank's a lot, Nico

Re: Right Clutch Pressure Plate?

What size is the clutch?
They may have fitted a later flywheel to...
Mac Van Pelts and Fort wayne seems like choices people are happy with.
I may have some here in sweden to.

Re: Right Clutch Pressure Plate?

Hej Murre,
at First i have to take out the clutch, i think it's an 11" diameter.
Will Start next week to take the clutch off.
1: would you operate from the front (pull engine out & leave tranny & bellhousing installed)
2: or work from rear (engine stays on frontmounts & pull & tranny/belhousing to the rear?

If Nr.1, where should i fix the Mounts to lift up the engine (any suggestions)?

Cheers, Nico

Re: Right Clutch Pressure Plate?

If you donīt have a 2 piece oilpan i would pull the engine...cause the pan has to come off to get the 11" clutch out in that case.

I've been totally happy with the quality of 6 original clutch and pressure plate cores that Fort Wayne has rebuilt for me in the last 10 years. Getting ready to send them two more sets of cores for rebuild.

*Note: pictures posted to show quality of rebuild work done by Fort Wayne, not intended to show the exact clutch and pressure plate needed for this particular application.

Re: Right Clutch Pressure Plate?

from looking in the parts book the original clutch would look like the model "A" clutch, deep recess in the flywheel, pressure plate bolts on top of the recess, solid hub disc

I'm curious if this truck has the B model 4-cylinder or if it has a V8. It has been a long time since 1932. It may have a later engine. We need to know for certain.

Re: Right Clutch Pressure Plate?

The photo Nico posted shows a 'Long' style pressure plate, however the fingers do not have the adjustment screws. Someone else posted on here a while back of issues they were having with the same [appearing] style clutch setup. I think the outcome in that earlier case was that the offshore made pressure plate was wrong and would not work; operator would run outta pedal travel before clutch would dis-engage.

Re: Right Clutch Pressure Plate?

At first, thanks a lot to everybody for supporting me :)

My truck has a 1937 V8 with 21 Studs. In some older Threads, i read that The actual clutch in my Truck was for Ford Traktor.

The clutch engage, when i am on The Last threads of the connecting rod....
So, a cheap Solution would be, to weld a longer connecting rod, but i prefer the original clutch instead.

Is there any way to measure the diameter from outside?

I will take out the engine on wednesday to see what is ging on.

Since I've started sending all my T5 customers to Fort Wayne Clutch the problems have been eliminated.

Re: Right Clutch Pressure Plate?

Fort Wayne looks very good, but i cant find a 11" clutch in the webshop.
What was the original diameter for the Truck clutch?

Will check on wednesday my flywheel and diameter.

Re: Right Clutch Pressure Plate?

Yes, your picture illustrates the 2N 533 part number , which is tractor. Also, this is a 9" pressure plate, not 11. 9" pressure plates have 6 springs, 10" & 11" have 9 springs

Re: Right Clutch Pressure Plate?

What Brian said, 9 inch tractor pressure plate.

Re: Right Clutch Pressure Plate?
