So i heard some of you don't believe me when I say that an axle doesn't have to be picture perfect in order to function perfectly.
Watch. So some rods with sliding cones seem like a good idea for checking the straightness of the holes in the axle, right? Those holes are the ones that spindles and spring perches take their reference from. Now here's a curly one. An axle depicted with a slightly dramatic twist in it, but its function is not in any way impaired.

My friend had a model A coupe with an axle that was bent rearward maybe 2-3 inches on one side by a previous accident. but it never had a tracking or steerability problem.

Man I guess it really just depends on the what, where & how much. If spring mounts & camber & toe (and a few other items) aren't affected well that's that. Plus if you didn't check you wouldn't know anyway. Bet there's tons of 'em out there too.
