Good question. Seems every factory picture I've seen has showed the stripe on the hoses. The old red Ford script belts I've seen are actually closer to brown, just as the 1928 steering wheel is.

My Model As are all drivers, but I do show them once in a while, and I like them to look authentic. I spray the fan belts with rustoleum red primer in the spray can. I know it's not real, but it looks good to me.

I was thinking of trying some vinyl spray paint, such as I used to turn my black arm rest to the correct color on the left. It's flexible and sprayed on great.
