Air Filter (just a question not trying to start a debate)

Without something to compare this filter to for scale, it is impossible to tell exactly how big it is. My gut feel, without hard data to back it up, is that the filter element area is too small for our cars. If it restricts the flow of air, on a stock Model A Zenith carburetor, it will make the engine run rich.
