I am with you there - most of what I know about '49 - '53 came to me pretty much by accident
I am fairly certain the '49 - '53 housing uses the same filter cartridge as the '40 - '48.
The body of the filter appears to be the same diameter and depth. It's the mounting bracket that is different.
