Check the Horn Shop near Rome, NY. Bill Randall is the man to check with. I don't have his number, but you should find him with google. John

Mr.Texas,
I can rewind your armature if your communtator is in acceptable condition. Provide me with your email and I will send pics so you can see the quality of my award winning restoration work. Thanks, Neil Stegall THE HORN MAN 601-469-0878 |

Ha, just discovered A&L is selling a new horn motor for
$100, choice of sparton or stewart warner, about half of the cost of a rewind of armature and field. Ordered one of each! Not original design of motor but can't be seen unless you look under the motor cover. Last edited by mrtexas; 03-11-2015 at 03:17 PM. |

Joe Way is just fine, really enjoying being retired. Has taken a number of trips in his trailer. He and wife, Heather, have two daughters and both live in other states. He still has all his machining tools and shop at home. Just saw him last Tuesday at our club, Feather River A's, monthly meeting. Ron Rude |

I hate to admit it, but IMHO the A&L horn motors work waaay better than any of the originals. Not because the parts are new. The armature is larger in dia and more massive, giving more torque. As a result, you can crank the adjustment in tighter to the diaphragm, giving a distinctly louder ahooga. Also, being more massive, it spins down slower, giving a nice long finish.
