Ha, just discovered A&L is selling a new horn motor for
$100, choice of sparton or stewart warner, about half
of the cost of a rewind of armature and field. Ordered one
of each! Not original design of motor but can't be seen unless you
look under the motor cover.

I hate to admit it, but IMHO the A&L horn motors work waaay better than any of the originals. Not because the parts are new. The armature is larger in dia and more massive, giving more torque. As a result, you can crank the adjustment in tighter to the diaphragm, giving a distinctly louder ahooga. Also, being more massive, it spins down slower, giving a nice long finish.
