Hey Fred,
If working with avatar coupe, i.e.- '30/'31 the radiator shell 'lacing' is held on with four flathead screws, in addition to the split rivits.
Glue is a joke right, I get it

when you order the split rivets from snyders get the split rivet tool also.. its cheap,, sets the rivets properly,,, works great.

my avatar is my 1930 town sedan with the doors off as at that time
I was installing head liner and new roof top.

glue was not a joke , but just an option I was considering.

I will get proper rivets as most suggest.

On my 1928 Tudor, the lacing on the cowl is held on by two lengths of wire held by four flat head screws. The radiator shell lacing is held by split rivets.

I think he is talking about the shell to radiator screws that go under the lacing.

These special bolts that attach the radiator shell to the radiator do not go through the lacing. The lacing goes over the heads of the bolts.
He doesn't have the restoration manual or the hardware book. To the average guy they are flat head screws and you have to admit they do look like the screw should go through the lacing. I offered to buy from him the Restoration guidelines and judging manual if he felt it was not worth the money, but have not heard back.
