Just throw on an OHV conversion if there's more than one crack. It won't care all the valve seats in the block are shot!

......and double your HP in the process!

Doesn't stop the crack growing. I'd get it repaired, then put the OHV head on it. Overkill maybe but I prefer to drive than walk.
