1941 deluxe convertible oil gauge not working

i've spent hours on the net trying to determine if the dashboard oil pressure gauge on the dash is mechanical or electric. anyone have any idea, because i'm baffled with the conflicting information i'm getting on the net.

i'm hoping there's a sending unit screwed into the block somewhere that sends an electric signal to the gauge on the dash.
