Black smoke means too much fuel; so adding choke should make the condition worse.....confusing to me .... float levels too high ???

Before you buy skirts, be sure the rear quarter panels wheel openings are correct. If poor body work has been done, factory type skirts may not fit....been there. Ended up using Foxcraft skirts which...

The motor in my 53 didn't work well till I gave it a dose auto trans fluid. Let it set after manually exercising it. Just a small amount will swell the paddle seal & mine worked fairly good.

My 8BA had 160s in it when I got the car and ran hot. I replaced them with180s and it ran 180 to 190 in any weather. Tried it without stats and it ran hot on hot days & cold on cooler days. .02...
