Kevin is right -when they were new multiple independent Road tests quoted a max speed of in excess of 80 mph ( I seem to remember 82 mph on one road test ). I suspect it took a while to get there...

Fuel pump is a Michael Driskell rebuild so should be good however i did try my old one which I replaced as had some slight weepage and same issue

Yep I thought that had fixed it - But it didn't . Because it was intermittent then it would be good for a little while and I would think it was ok then it would play up. Definitely no air fluid...

Having just spent the last 5 months trying to fix a similar problem make sure that the fuel bowl on the pump is not sucking air that was what mine was doing and exactly the same symptoms
